We frequently advise clients who have been through challenging journeys trying to make sense of contradicting diagnosis, diverging opinions of medical experts from different fields, and a sentiment that they are still looking at symptoms instead of root causes. Complex gut health conditions and seemingly infinite exhaustions were symptoms we frequently heard guests report - and fortunately there are great retreats for these!

These guests turn to wellness retreats to take a truly holistic view to their health, reconstructing the whole picture step by step and understanding where their metabolism is stuck, and how to regenerate its vital functions. They embark in long retreats, often 14 or 21 days, sometimes up to 6 or 8 weeks, to regain their strength after illness, burnout, or personal trauma.

During such in-depth transformative retreats, there are times when the guests prefer to be on their own, to fully focus on the expert-led rehabilitation programs. Other times, they are joined by their close relatives or dear friends, whose presence helps to restore a nurturing environment, ideal to rebuild confidence and resilience.

Sleep Management programme is the usual common denominator for this guest segment, but it is a broad category as those sleep programs entail many different itineraries, depending on the true causes of the guest's burn out.

In all cases, these life events can leave individuals feeling untethered. Through expert coaching, therapeutic practices, and peer support, retreats help them embrace change and move forward with clarity and purpose. For some of these transitions, Serenity Ways recommends group retreats, as the experience shared by others is a strong medicine too in order to accept the change when it was not expected.

These guests are drawn to mindfulness practices, silent retreats, immersion into nature and with animals, and programs exploring the mind-body connection. In order to feel this connexion stronger, it is often recommended that guests adopt a plant-based nutrition and detoxify their body. The cleansing process, and the subsequent deeper levels one can reach in meditation and mind-body connexion, only come several weeks or months after adopting an adequate diet, and therefore this journey usually unfolds over several months of years - always a pleasure to accompany such guests over time, and see their mind blossom!
